The PO said the welder did a great job.  Not so.  I took it to a local machine shop and ... the welder did not realize A) that cracks will develop as they weld if not careful or perhaps that they had not welded the entire crack.  This head is now ready for some really skilled welder  - luckily I found a replacement.
