Who is in the San Diego Area?

Recommended Posts

The 19th would be OK if it were after 1:00, Saturday mornings normally don't work for me.

Fosters Freeze on Waring Road seems to be a popular place for car groups to meet, there are rat rods there every Thursday. They have lots of parking.

Is this still on? I got a clear for that day. I also talked to someone at la jolla independent and they would be happy to have a get together at their facilities. Maybe if this works out, we could have a future GTG there. So what are the details for the 19th?

Alan,

You got your car registered? you must have enjoyed that since it involves putting a sticker on your car! LOL

I am good for the afternoon of the 19th, what's the next step? pick a location and make an announcement?

Lane,

haha! You know I can't help it with the stickers, it's part of my heritage!

Yeah I needed to add the most important sticker, the current registration sticker. Looks like we will be putting in my 5 speed when we get some time. My little engine sounds like it will blow up on the fwy trying to cruise at 65mph. I'm good with FF as long as I can get there via surface streets. What time do we want to start the dog and pony show?

Thank you, Alan, for nudging me to look. We are most definitely interested in meeting the rest of the San Diego 02 crew.

Afternoon of the 19th we have a lunch commitment unfortunately so, depending on what you have in mind, we may miss you, show up before heading out, or catch the tail end....Either way, we look forward to continued San Diego 02ers getting together.

FF would be cool... would take me back to high school and the FF on Hawthorne Blvd... La Jolla Independent would be good also since they are now open Saturday mornings... not sure what time they close up... Carl and the boys are always up for a beer or two... and his lot is like a museum... I'll be there this Friday taking care of a few loose ends....

either place... just let us know the place and time.

Hi Guys,

I would love to join you all, but I am out of town the 19th for work.

Any chance of the 26th? (There is a SD BMW Autocross that day at the stadium... some of you might be there?) Let me know if we can push it out and I will be there.

I'm down for FF, La Jolla... whatever. At the moment, my 02 is down, but I have an e21 I can bring until I'm up and running. Looking forward to a meeting some of the fellow SD 02'ers!

I just posted a poll to help figure out the date.

My household events coordinator has already OK'd the 19th for me but that may be able to be changed (but sometimes the cost of changing a hall pass can be expensive and/or painful)

So what is best for everybody?

the 19th or the 26th?

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
