Are these BBS rims?

Recommended Posts

Is there a way to tell what type of rims these are? I have had them on my 02 since forever. PO installed. they are dirty now, but I was thinking of selling them and have no idea what they are or what they are worth. I will put in for sale section when I'm ready along with other bits, this is not a for sale item yet...

These were sold by Miller & Norburn and Korman Autoworks back in the early to mid 80's.

There are many basketweaves that look like that. You need to look for some identifying marks.

yup..I agree. They actually look like Enkie's to me.

I believe these wheels are 15 x 7 MSW wheels that came on VW in the 80's.

MSW had variations of this wheel for different cars. Here's a set for sale on ebay (not mine) just to give you an idea.

by the way there was a version with a nice lip and low offset that was made for BMWs MSW type 1962A 7Jx15H2 E12 This is very hard to come by at least from my experience.

Judging by what the above pic says, these we 195/60x14 right? Just curious, Do you happen to know of those fit the car without rubbing on the inner fender or shock? I'm looking to get some eventually but i've read certain sizes can rub.

From my experience with the same MSW wheels, I had very minor rubbing on the front inner fender well (lower section down by the frame rail with the outer tire bead) and upper rear shock absorber (with inside edge of wheel). A 3mm wheel spacer would solve the problem, but I think there would be enough rear fender clearance to accommodate a 5mm spacer if you can't find a 3mm one. There might be enough variation with your chassis for them to fit without a problem tho. I have a set of gold/silver in excellent condition. for sale.--Jim
