Mobile Tradition CD Rom Memory Hack Anyone?

Has anybody figured out a hack to allow the Mobile Tradition CD Rom Repair Manuals to run on a PC with more than 512mb RAM?

I just rebuilt my garage PC and I'm gonna install the CD ROM software, but I seem to remember there's an issue with it running on systems with more than 512mb of ram.

I also seem to remember it's possible for them to run with the CD image copied to the HD so you don't have to have the CD installed, any help here too?

The machine is running XP, 2GB RAM.

Thanks, yes and no.

That solves the run from HD issue, but doesn't address the memory issue adequately. There must be a better hack for the memory issue... Having your system run on 1/2 gig is a non answer!

Don't know what skill level is involved on your end, but if it were me I'd just create a virtual machine with 512 megs, use the Hard drive hack, and save it "booted up" with the BMW parts open.

It should work, and you can boot it in seconds, kinda like an app... I think microsoft's virtual PC is actually free these days, could be wrong... Yes, setup time would suck (1 hour?) but you do it once !

Yes, either XP mode on a Win7 machine.

Or download Virtual Box from SUN (open source....) and just install a VM with 512mb of ram.

Works like a charm on my macbook

Thanks. May have to spend some serious geek time and get that setup. Haven't run a VM in a long long time... Probably the best way to go, I always liked the sandbox approach!
