Do you ever get frustrated working on the '02???

Ok- this ought to make you feel better.

For the past 2-3 years I've been building my glass studio and starting my business. 12 hour days there have been many. Weekends= work and more recently a little family time with the wife and 3 year old. I think you see where this is going.

I haven't had time to even change the oil on my car for 2 years. It sits uninsured, un-inspected bald tires old gas- totally dejected in the corner of the studio. I start it up and sit in it pretending to drive- shift though the gears with my eyes closed remembering that spot in my route where there is a dip in the road right after that right hand sweeper brings the rear around just perfectly setting me up for the next turn- back into 2nd and...... Next to it on the engine stand is a s-14. Big brakes, a set of bbs rs's and a few other choice parts just sitting in boxes....... Nothing is more frustrating than that!

I have a cage being bent up as we speak- Go Ian. Close ratio tranny in route to Mr Varco for a good going over...... Things are starting to move well at work and well honestly I just can' stand to not drive my car much longer. I can't wait to be laying on my back cursing, frustrated as I bench press trying to get that tranny to line up.......... its gonna feel so good.

Best!

Pete

HA! I must be the worst shade tree mechanic. Every time I do even a simple task is seems to lead to some other shit. So do not feel so alone.. everybody must get stoned...Opps wrong song . Anyhow we all get the feeling that some one up there is making sure we work to get our cars right.

We have been blessed with a cold wet nasty winter here in Atlanta, though nowhere near as entertaining as points further North. My garage is overcrowded and unheated so I haven't really played with my toys since the Autocross season concluded in October/November. Half the time I putter (wife's phrase) I get something partially done or broken and need to revisit it but the end result when I drive the cars is generally worthwhile. First A/X event is next Sunday so it's time to dig the car out and get it and the driver ready to go. My co-driver appears to be interested in driving an e36 this year so I'll have nobody to show me how bad I truly am.

Thanks to everyone for your responses. I guess I expect little things to go smoother - especially since my car has been apart so many times. Installing the entire front sway bar on the VW took less time than the (2) bushings on the tii.

If I have to take the console and those stupid cardboard underdash pieces ONE MORE TIME - I'm really going to get mad. The screws that hold the column covers never go back in the right way.

Ok - must breathe deeply and tackle one thing at a time.

Jim - actually, your post about swaybar bushings got me thinking.

Time for IE swaybar upgrade. I love mine.

That's all.

Ken

One thing at a time Ken. Need to get the driveshaft ordered/installed to ensure the car actually moves before it can turn in the twisties.
