Which crane 700 ignition is right for me

I've been using the XR-700 0231 for years. The ignition module on mine is gold anodized, so things may have changed since it was bought. This is on a tii (non-vacuum advanced) distributor. The pictures don't show all the parts for the 0231? I'd call the 800# before ordering.

I think others have tried these, you may look into this set-up:

Go with XR3000 it's newer and is more "performance oriented", I have gotten one at a local parts store with a discount for $100 cad, roughly for the same money as online. Shop around, it should not cost more than $150.

The thing has everything you need to run it. Might as well get one of those 60KW coils or HEI, or whatever you want. Put the module in the glove box away from heat and moisture and Bob's your uncle.

Vacuum and tii Mech Dizzies use two different adapters, both included in the kit. The xr 3000 can also run as a trigger for MSD/crane boost retard boxes and is better if you switch to fuel injection, etc.

Thanks for replys. Yeah I am trying to do points replacement but it seems like for an extra 60 bucks I can get a hotter spark thats more reliable for cold starting. Im traveling across country and want my car to start easily when up in the boston area.

I think I may just stick with the 700 because I am not planning any major mods anytime soon!

Why are you not at the hockey match Ash? Dang good match

Only the best of us get to attend the actual game. Once they scored the last one in, the streets went crazy- everyone is part of it, even though not physically present there.
