What's the value of 5spd dogleg box?

Hello all, I have been looking about for values on an original 02 5spd dogleg box. It's the four bolt flange and sits on my tii at the moment.

I'm swapping boxes and am looking to sell, but I have no idea at the price.

I'm in the UK by the way.

Cheers in advance.

Wow. Wasn't some guy trying to sell one on here for like $2500 recently?

Yep, but it was rebuilt. And the exchange rate's not great.

You might be right, I might be low, but ... Repairing the CR is expensive, and

they're reputed to be fragile.

One other thought- try to find a buyer while the box is still in the car.

Then they can drive it. That's real ### (not$$$) to a buyer.

Yep, I'd say leave it in until you find a local buyer who can drive on it. CR boxes are expensive to fix (I spent $2K for mine to be rebuilt a few years ago) so their value is highly dependent on condition.

Letting someone drive it puts all the guesswork aside and really increases the confidence of the transaction. Everyone wins.

If you referring to this:

It is not a 235 but a 245. And I bought it (against my better wisdom.) Having talked to a few folks $1500 is not a great price but not too bad either- for the 245. the 323 version is supposedly the most rugged of the series I thought I might squirrel it away for an m20 project but I now have other plans.

I'd say in terms of the 235 it may have decent value to someone wanting to do a resto with original parts. But for everyone else it is a less desirable unit as the 245 has the reputation of being more robust.

  • 2 months later...

I'm picking it up next week in Nagoya at thee port. YOu bet I'll be using it! Can't wait- I had Dave at Arrdvarc switch out the bell housing for the m10 pattern and put in the speedo drive gears. I'll post back when I get it ....
