I believe you can retrofit it using a rack froma 318(?)

The problem is that power steering is usually a 3-8 HP parasitic draw and on a car that puts out just 100HP to begin with (on it's best day), most find the trade-off unacceptable.

WRONG!

You must be using newer research materials. The original manual shows power steering on ALL models. Below are pictures of many happy customers. It started out as being planned for just the men but ladies liked it too! See below:
