GRRRR new carb and no gasket??

OK, I guess I was spoiled. The last few cars I restored were American. I order headers and they come with gaskets. I oder a carb and it comes with gaskets.....if the part does not come with it the people always did that good old "would you like fries with that burger" approach. You know, do you need some gaskets with that??? Suggestive selling.

Here are my reasons..I order a new clutch slave. Obviously when you remove the old one the clips are old, rusted and get torn up. So I get the ne slave, no clips, I have to then order clips and pay more shipping.

I order a 38/38, comes in today, well, no gaskets so now I have to pay additional shipping for gaskets.

I rely on the vendors to be the experts, they should know by now that if someone orders a new carb they just might need those new gaskets. etc etc

thanks for the post, you learned my lesson for me, il make sure i ask if gaskets are included when i begin to order parts. The set back however is unfortunate

Get some heavy gasket paper and cut out with scissors and a paper hole punch for the mounting stud holes.

BTW, you really should use a phenolic spacer between carb and manifold to prevent fuel boiling after shutdown on a hot day. If the carb didn't come with one, order it when you order the gasket, or hog out the old one from your Solex or 32/36 Weber...

And if you order the spacer, order 2 gaskets! one for each side of the spacer. If you don't you will be paying shipping a third time.

I have contacted several 02 suppliers looking for a phenolic spacer, none of them have one that is made for the 38/38. Either they don't have them or they say to cut a 32/36 to fit. Know of anyone who has them?
