Rally style Sill Stands?

Have any of the racers out there fitted rally style sill stands for servicing?

I want to do it but as my car is in shell form I want to get the tubes positioned in the correct place to get the balance.

I think that the porsche 911 has somthing a bit like this from the factory

Don't worry about balance. Put them as much to front and as much to rear where you can mount the tubes securely.

Thats exactly what Im looking to do.

Could you perhaps take a picture or describe where you welded the tubes too? Is there anywhere important to 'catch' to support the weight better?

I can't get better pics now while the racer is stored away, but I can explain.

First I cut the tubes and made holes through both outer and inner rocker panels. Then I made a plate 3mm thick about 2x3" for the inside. The tube was welded to this inner plate and then put into place from inside. Plate was then welded. Then I made outer plate with hole for the tube. It's about 3.5x3.5", welded to rocker and the tube. Very sturdy construction. Pay attention that they all are on same level and the tubes are horizontally positioned.

My stands have slight angle over 90 degrees between the pin and base parts. It makes them stand more stabile. Very handy for a racercar.

So what if your work shop floor is less than perfect? Problem in terms of leveling the car?

Well mine is a good example of that. I have different thickness plywood "shim plates" that I use under the stands.
