Best anti-fog spray?

MAD02

Recommended Posts

My project 2002 is my is daily driver and the heater/defroster fan does not work. Driving in the rain makes my interior windows fog up big-time. I tried the Rain-X anti-fog stuff, applied it per the directions, and it does not work. Does anyone know of any other stuff I can apply to the windows? Driving with my windows down in the pouring rain really sucks!

Thanks!

Replacing my seals made my windows fog up more, not less. I use three strategies that usually do the job:

1. Clean my windows with this product called Invisible Glass. I use the wipes. First on the inside and then while still damp the outside glass. Using these frequently really help keep the fogging down.

2. Crack the wing windows instead of rolling down the windows. Minor water drips only.

3. Defrost on cold, NOT hot. They defrost much faster. Counter-intuitive I know, but try it.

Rain-X used to make an anti-fog product.

Application was similar to the "outside" product.

Try opening the front vent window about 1", it creates a draft over the windscreen and hey presto no fogged glass.

Of course this only works while driving :)

Find an old hand-held hair dryer--one that has a burned out heater but the fan still works. Most of those fans are 12 volt DC, have a shroud surrounding the fan blades and are small enough to fit inside one of the defroster tubes that run from the heater box to the defroster outlets. Wire it up to the existing heater blower switch or just fit a toggle switch under the dash. Presto, a defroster blower.

Several years ago I suggested this to a FAQer in the NW so his car would pass inspection and he reported that it worked like a charm.

Might be worth a try...

Funny-

about 5 weeks back, I put a bunch of "Fog-X"

on the inside windows, and it does a pretty good job.

You have to really put it on thoroughly, and the first

time might take 2 or 3 'coats'...

I've had to recoat once, but we've had some seriously humid

rainy days, and it's still going pretty well.

You DO need to keep some airflow going, tho.

It helps a lot, but not completely.
