M10 head differences...

My head is cracked.

Nearby, there is a 2.0l M10 out of a 2002 that I can buy for 100 or maybe less. Can I use this head with my dizzy/injection on the 84 318i, or is it all different?

I hear the combustion chamber is a bit larger, but the valves are smaller on the older head...but same bore. I'm unsure about clearing the pistons though (quite a dome on these 318i pistons).

I'd like to get the car driving/down the road, and then perhaps build up a motor for boost using the 2.0l crank and some forged pistons.

I dunno if the head from the 02 will go on the 318, but the injection from the 318 will go on the 02

You'd be better if you found a correct head. Depending on which 2002 head it is you will meet bigger or smaller issues with combustion chamber vs. piston. In any case it's not very good solution.
