This is my favorite photo of an E3.

http://www.seniorsix.org/photos/otherimages/bmw2800_fromBMWAG_b.jpg Looks to be a very early E3. Keys to identifying an early E3, aluminum grilles, door mirror, and C pillar vents are early E3 identifiers.

I've owned two previous 73 Bavaria's and they are awesome cars. John Capoccia recently sold his low mileage barn find golf 74 tii and picked up a 74 Bavaria complete with a 3.5L motronic and 5 speed conversion.
