March 27 -- Capital Area Part Swap is ON!!

Recommended Posts

So many of you in the DC/NoVa area may be aware that I've come into possession of a bunch'o parts -- NLA/NOS, still in boxes, etc -- that are taking up room in my basement.

I've put aside some stuff that I'll need for my swap but that still leaves approx 4 large tubs of parts that I have no idea if I'll use or that are useful to anyone. I'd rather parts go to a good home rather than the dump.

I'd like to see if there's enough people to come by one weekend day to help me sort through this pile. Anything I don't absolutely need can (needs!) to go away. Not looking to make money off this endeavor, just looking for the next level of marital harmony.

I'm in Fairfax, about 10-15 min off the beltway (near GMU). Would need to be sometime in Feb or March as my travel is starting to ramp up.

Thoughts, comments?

Lemmeno.

Whats happening Dennis?

I'm down for some of the wacky seals and some other assorted bits!

Now my question for you is what do you need?

Hit me up on gmail or the work mail.

Later,

I'm fully amped to meet some of the local 2002 enthusiasts, aficionados, racers, nut jobs and lunatics, and adding parts to my already asinine stock is always pleasing. Please count me in for this get together.

If you've got stuff -- bring it on along. Worse case is that we quickly outgrow my townhouse's postage sized backyard and we have to look for a "real" venue.

And I do have a good-size charcoal grill that we can burn meat on...

Brilliant! If we can get Bill W, Jonathan, David, and the other pillars of the '02 community -- we could have a really great time!

Ian - sounding like we'll need your spread and yeah, I'll be happy to run the grill as long as someone keeps the beers cold!

Sounds great, we also tend to do a drive every so often as well. I'm off in school right now, but I'll be back march 6th for spring break. Let me know if you guys decide to hold of that long. I'm interested in some of those parts, you happen to have a spare headlight switch for a '74 squarie would you mind holding on to it for me? Thanks!

Half as old as my first car and I wouldn't have it any other way.

I'm in.

Anybody looking for big stuff like body panels, seats, glass, etc.?

My hood is in bad shape, so I've been thinking about a new one. Same goes for the rear panel where the license plate is. Also could use some Marine Blue seats. I have some good condition black ones for sale/trade.

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
