Outrageous prices for Fleabay/BMWNA stuff. cont'd

I agree with the previous post re. FleaBay. Outstanding deals are fewer and fewer every day. Some good deals remain though.

BUT I'm sure I'm not the only one who is noticing the 20-40% increases in parts from the dealers.

I should have started the resto six months ago.

Have you compared the prices of sheetmetal six months ago to what it's listed for today? OUCH!

I think it's now a race with the NLA clock.

Hi Mac,

I think I met you at the Windy City Fest last year. My pleasure.

Yes it is true the deals come far & few in between. They are still out there as you say. You have to search a lot harder now.

I agree on the Dealer pricing also. It seems like all the pricing has gone through the roof from Fleabay, Dealers & even to the private individuals selling parts. I was noticing that for the last 7 months.

We all probably wish we would have started that resto last year. I have to finish up all my projects and then I have said I will buy finished vehicles as I will save in the long run.

We all know how that goes though and no one will take the time to do it as we would as we are all perfectionist.

Catch 22.

Maybe it's just our side of the pond. In Germany, Ebay appears to be working as an auction, whereas it's mostly a "parts for sale at my price" over here.

Look at this auction for instance; who over here would auction this and start off at $2 with no reserve?

There are bargains to be had over there, but the shipping kills the deal unfortunately.

That is true Les.

I get most if not all of my parts for one particular vehicle from abroad. The dollar sucks, but even so and the killer shipping I find that I just can't get them cheaper on this side of the pond.

Another group of us buy and utilize any & everybody that is shipping a car or any container for that matter to use the maximum space in their container.

I wish for the strong dollar days to return so bad.

My son-in-law is in the Air Force. He recently had the oportunity of a posting in Germany; he opted for Afghanistan instead. I could have wacked him!

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
