i did look on the forum search and found a good picture of the lights around the gas and temp gadge.

but what my question is there is 2 other lights on the bottome left and right of the dash.

the left one is red. what is that one?

the right one on mine looks like it has been knocked out cuz all i see is a white light in the dash itself.. whats that one?

thank you for your time.

The other light bulbs are illumination.

Quick Edit/Update - Charge light should come on before you start car. From what I understand, it's an important part of the alternator-battery charging circuit. If light comes on while engine is running, battery is discharging, and there is an issue with the alternator. Do a search, or I'm sure someone will elaborate on this Bill? C.D.?

The left, bottom red light is the for the brakes. Two things can cause it to be illuminated, i.e., if the brake fluid in the reservoir is low, or, if the emergency brake is on. If you turn on the key and pull the emergency brake handle up the light should come on. If it does not it could be the small button that resides just aft of the handle. Lift up the rubber housing over the handle and you should see the mechanism at the rear of the handle. Adjust it until the light comes on, and then goes off when the brake handle is lowered.

As per Mike's post below, the emergency brake warning is only for square-lite cars. (My bad - I should have qualified my comments above. Guess I need to go to the woodshed for some self-flagelation).

Coupla quirks about this light:

Only squarelights have the e-brake warning switch that causes this light to illuminate when the emergency brake is left on. Not on roundies.

On '76 2002s only, the brake warning light will also illuminate if there's an imbalance in braking force betwen the two circuits. If you don't have a '76, don't worry about it. If you do, let us know (see why it's important to list the year of the car you have a question about?) and we can explain how the thing works--and how to re-set if it comes on.

cheers

ebrake light doubles as low fuel indicator also on the 1974. Probable same on 75 and 76 but I can only speak for my 74 since I don't want any threads started about poor advice given out on this forum. ahhhhh f*ck it-- it's 7 degress out- I'm going for a 8 mile run..

The brake-related warning light has never come on in either our ' 75 or '76 when the fuel was real low. Could be a malfunction in both cars, but that would be an unusual coincedense, and I've owned my ' 75 since it was only a few yrs. old. Maybe someone else has some additional info on this.

brake fluid bottle is full, then there's either a short in the wiring or the little float inside the bottle has a leak and is full of fluid. If the fluid in the bottle is close to the minimum mark, the light will go on under hard cornering or quick stops.

ya idk i went out there and started messing with the wires and stuff and put even more fluid in there... i didnt know about the ball in the cup thing but ill check that out. the light has shut off for now but the first thing to fixing a problem is being aware of what it is.

thank you for your posts and your time :)

the more i learn about these cars the more i like them
