I'm not too sure whether they couple correctly into the 02 receivers that i think you will need to use for the fronts. The e21 receivers on the inside seat hinge will dig in and rip up the carpet when you slide the seat back on the 02 sliders.I guess you could make up extenders and go from the 02 receiver mount points? I think i remember trying this once and found out late into the swap--maybe i gave up oo easily but maybe it will save you some grief----- scoyote

No. You need to do some work on the retractor. if it comes with a threaded mounting hole, cold welded on the frame, you need to bore it out. Some retractors didn't have the threaded hole so they will work directly. The mounting end bracket on the webbing is the same as early 6 series cars', also used in some e30s, and won't work easily in a 2002, it is better be replaced. On a 320 mounting end is attached to a different point than a 2002 where it is attached behind the retractor. Webbing is a little shorter for a 2002 too, but will work ok unless you are too short and sit close to windshield. Otherwise, the length is sufficient (barely). Common problem with old retractors from this era are the worn plastic bushings that hold the spool, and winding spring, especially on the driver side retractor. The plastic covers can be removed on both sides of the retractor using a special socket to service the locking and spring mechanisms, if they still work. Use of bearing grease is recommended. Most of them were Autoflugs which are easy to work on, but some late model cars came with repas which cannot be serviced. Also, as mentioned above, the cable buckle receivers are too short for a 2002, unless they are mounted using special extension brackets. The usual 2002 buckles will not work with 320 tongues. I have brand new Autoflug and Repa retractors w/ correct cable buckles that will work in a 2002, along with other parts to achieve a perfect conversion. Not inexpensive. HTH.
