Heater box rebuild...Heater Control Valve?

I am rebuilding a used heater box and it does not have the heater control valve on the top, and the mounting point is broken. I have been told this is optional, but does someone have pics of what it should look like and what can be done?

a clumsy mechanic broke the plastic mount for the heater valve on my heater box and it turned out it really didn't affect the operation of the heater control. Get a heater valve (they're getting might pricey) and mount it in line on the passenger side with short lengths of heater hose. There is enough support in the hose to hold the valve steady if the bracket is broken. Then mount the lever arm on the square shaft of the valve with a sheet metal screw. (It screws into the plastic shaft these days,,,,used to be metal.) The end of the lever connects with the bowden cable from the dash levers. Make sure the valve operates smoothly. You can open it carefully (there's a spring inside that pops out.) and lubricate the inner parts for smooth operation. The vane tends to rust in place with the inner housing if it hasn't been cycled for a while. Good Luck.

The bracket does add some support even though the short hose holds it pretty well. Here are a couple of picts of the bracket. If you want a new metal bracket contact Rob at 2002Haus. He machines one that you screw into the plastic.

Good Luck

And, I have two heater valves, one new one used but A+ condition, if you need some. Also have a new supporting bracket with hardware for those looking for that kind of stuff. Send me some cash.

How much you want for one of them?
