My Automatic 02 got evaluated...

My very clean 99.9% rust free but not stock (converted 5spd from auto) 1976 Sahara was evaluated by a pro this summer at $13,000. The link below is before I did a full 5 spd conversion, interior and suspension rebuild.

Last I looked the loon and buck were within spitting distance of each other - not that I encourage that sort of thing.

If we learn from our mistakes does that mean I have to make them all?

i have to admit that the guy didnt took a lot if time looking at it, he says the car is realy clean and looks new, thats it...

i didnt hoped much, it was just for my insurance company after all, 12k CDN was just the number i had in mind, and i realy think the car worht AT LEAST this much considering the amount of details i put in it and my 12+ years worth of 02 expericence. Everything i could put new on it IS new.

The evaluator spent two hours going over the car including time underneath and produced a 13 page report that evaluated the condition of just about every major component and system. Six pages were photos. He was more familiar with the classic muscle car market but had done lots of market comparable and recent sale research. I thought I had scanned it but just have it as hard copy.

Sad to say it has little bearing on what you spent and more on what you will get.

dont get me wrong, the guy didnt took a lot of time because he says the car is immaculate, no need to crawl for 2 hours under it he says. He looked in each wheel arches (the car was on jack stands), and looked at the floors pans, the subframes and into the trunk.

I gave him also tons of details about the restoration and what i did so maybe i pushed him into a direction... he made a nice file with tons of pictures and details to send to my insurance company.

Among the details he added in the file " car is immaculate in and out, profesionnal restoration very well made, car is 100% original and complete. Attention to details is evident all over it."

Sure enough, he didnt saw the euro bumpers, the early steelies and the bigger rear drums ;)
