Clutch for my 74Tii...

That clutch is not the right size for your 74 tii, you need the one that fits tii and 73 or earlier standard 2002.

You need the 228 mm clutch.

This one is the 215 mm size (ebay description confirms "Specs 8 1/2 X 1 1/8 X 10 SPLINE", where 215 mm = 8.5")

You could use the smaller clutch set only if you changed your flywheel to match.

Valeo makes fine stuff, they do a lot for new american cars (the <5% that still get a manual trans.)

I don't have any direct experience with that kit for sale, but why not deal with Blunt or Greenfield Imported Cars, someone who's selling BMW clutches and might be able to advise what's working best for 2002 customers?

I use a Valeo pressure plate in my Ford road race car, but it has been modified by our local clutch shop (heavier straps) and I'm using a solid hub puck-style disc (no damper springs.) This creates gear rattle sounds that would be objectionable in a street car, and it does not allow even minimal slipping to launch from a start smoothly, so it is not really driveable in that sense. But that is mostly a function of the custom disc, the Valeo pressure plate clamps same as stock, which is strong enough for race use.

SACHS brand is what I've always used for the 2002, and SACHS makes lightweight Motorsport versions as well.

I think a stock SACHS kit should be around the same price as the Ebay Valeo kit, but I'm a bit behind on current pricing on these

Repeating:

It's the flywheel that determines which size clutch, not the trans.

The clutch bolts to the flywheel, and the 215 & 228 mm pressure plates have different bolt patterns, not interchangeable.

You have the stock tii flywheel, correct?
