Sebring Muffler vs. Generic 6" Mufflers? Ansa Silverlin

OK...so I am looking for a rear muffler that will give me a bit of sound over stock, but not too loud. I have a 4" round muffler on there now. Its loud. The Sebring is a 6" round muffler. I have also seen that Magnaflow and alot of other manufacturers sell 6" round sport mufflers. Would these be about the same, if not EXACTLY the same as the Sebring mufflers? There are exactly the same dimensions. I can also get these locally, while I am having trouble finding the Sebring anywhere. I have read the archives and it seems that people seem to like the sound of the Sebring, so I am looking for that sound while not being too loud. I have also seen a very inexpensive Ansa 6" round muffler in their Silverline...Thoughts?

Same as what I wanted for my stock '76. My research indicated that the two best choices were the Sebring (about $100) and OEM Turbo (about $450 - yikes!!) muffler for that little extra mellow sound without being obnoxious. I was able to get the Sebring from Rob at 2002haus in San Luis Obispo CA - it was his last one, unfortunately, though he does know the supplier. Currently it's hung up somewhere on a UPS truck in the snow, so I can't report on the sound. Rob says it gives the sound like the '60s English sports cars - say an MGB. I don't think the size (4" vs. 6") makes much difference in sound, but rather the guts.

Hey John,

Call Ace Auto Care, in santa ana. Ask for Jose, he's the owner. He specializes in BMWs, They are on first st., He will dial you in. I had him install a stainless Magnaflow system in mine with my dual carb set up. And my carbs are louder than the exhaust. He only makes exhaust systems.
