Solstice mountain drive

The winter solstice and it was a simply great, clear day here in Mile High today -- so it was time to hit the hills for a nice twisty mountain drive.

I was happy to be off work, and that we're not currently snowbound like you easterners - though I should know better not speak too soon around these parts! Took a nice 2 hour cruise, with some awesome pulse-raising lefts-and-rights thrown in. ;-)

Stopped off in Red Rocks on the way home and grabbed some scenic pics I thought I'd share. Hope you enjoy.

Happy holidaze all!

Tom

That Bottom picture is incredible.

Well I was in the work truck but it turned into a Beautiful afternoon in the Northern Sacramento Valley. The rice fields and the Sacramento Valley refuges have thousands of Geese, Ducks and Cranes migrating through the Pacific Flyway. Right off of I 5 between Williams and Willows.

This Picture is from last year.

Thanks, guys.

Yeah, the scenery is mighty pretty in the nearby mountains and foothills. And the car's a blast to drive there, especially when there's a little chill in the air, and the windows are down, and the sidedrafts are gulping ;-)

Really beautiful scenery you have there.

Many moons ago we filmed part of a Honda commercial on Trail Ridge Road, the second pic kind of reminded me of the shot we did from a helicopter. It was a commercial showing some of the great roads of the world. Anyway, thanks for posting. Enjoy it while you still can!

Tony/Marc,

Yeah, the local drives are amazing - been on Trail Ridge Road myself several times. The drives and scenery are truly inspiring. Thanks for your appreciation. My ride is surely no purist creation...I'm tryin' for a more individual style.
