Automatic to 5spd conversion

I'm in process of a auto to 5spd swap and have it together and ready to start up. It's a 75 2002 automatic , but now with a 320i 5spd.

I'm not getting the power to the starter solinoid now. I can jump the starter and it will turn over but will not turn over with the key. The starter worked fine before I pulled the drivetrain out and replaced it with the 5spd.

I know there is a neutral safety switch on the auto but it's been 4 years since I pulled it out and I have some wires unidentified that I think may have been attached to the n/s switch. How can I wire around this ?

Anybody else run into this ? Any help is appreciated !

Thanks

Brent

I have been gathering parts and looking around for some ideas to do the same swap, I also have a 75' Auto that i want to put a 5 speed in and am gonna try to do it over the summer. Any help is appreciated.

Chris,

I'm also close to swapping from auto to 5-speed. I haven't determined if I'm going to do it with a donor engine or with my current engine after rebuild. I'm in the Bowie area. We should hook up at some point. I'll let you know if you're interested.

Thanks for the reply. I don't have any pic but there is a website if I remember it was this one that had Peter Siposs BMW 2002 Auto to 5spd page. It had several pic's and decription on the process. Very helpfull !

It's really not that bad a swap. I had my original 02 a 74 that got rusty and this 75 I bought off e-bay for 710.00. It drove and was a complete car ??? Best of all no rust. It was in Georgia and South Carolina all it's life. I blew it apart and painted it Mustang Gt Screaming Yellow and have spent that last 5 years taking all the good pieces off my 20 year project on the 74 and add them to the 75. So I had the pedal bucket and trans already.

Have fun !

I've got two at present. The one that is in the haynes manuel and one I bought off e-bay. Laminated 11 x 17 in color. They don't jibe ! I'd be interested in your alldata version. Is it accurate for your 72 or all 2002's ?

Sorry the auto is sold a couple years ago on e-bay.

Thanks John,

Been reading that link for years. Problem is they don't dwell on the n/s issue much at all.

But thanks anyway I appreciate any help I can get.
