My speedo cable broke so while I waited for the replacement to arrive, I disassembled my instrument cluster and cleaned the thing. It was Filthy! I wish I took some before shots. I have it reassembled and surprisingly it looks good for only just hand washing the parts with a toothbrush... Here is the final product...

Just did the same thing to mine when I replaced my speedo. Was going to order the brighter bulbs but decided to just put it all back together clean instead for now. It is at least twice as bright just after a good scrubbing, no bright bulbs needed.

I waver on swapping my newer style one out to the silver dollar style. Maybe one day!

If you take a toothbrush to the corners of the dash and below the cluster (Like I used to do when I was rollin), you can make your hard work stand out even better...

Your refreshed cluster looks very nice. I just did this to mine and replaced all the bulbs at the same time. For some reason, the glass lenses had water spots on the outside that were tough to remove. The little things certainly make a big difference.

Did you paint the inside white?

I was pleasantly surprised that a PO had already done this (about 9 years ago) when I pulled the assembly apart.
