Speedo sound. After sitting 8 hours..?

Ok. So I drove our 76 automatic to work today and noticed a ticking sound from the cluster. When I shut it off there was a spinning sound coming from the speedo area. I just notes it with a "hm". Well, 8 hours later when I just hopped in to head home it was still going strong?!

Any ideas what it could be?!

Speedo works pretty well, no OD.

Mine makes a "rattling/ticking" noise while the car is moving but I've never heard it while the car is stopped. Mine is also a '76 and my trip odo reset button is not working.

I have the same problem with my '75 02 Automatic. Did anyone ever solve this mystery problem?

I have a rattle at speed from my dash cluster. Haven't found the problem yet.
