FKN A!! I'm already excited... I am going to make a more consorted effort to meet everyone I have worked with here on the Q.

I like the little banner in the cor--WAIT..What?! My Poster wasn't good enough?!?! LOL

Mind if I use that Fight Club graphic in some sort of promotion?

After Tim Jones said "that oompah music sucks" last year, I took that as a subtle hint it was time for a change.

I'm excited about the Straight 8's playing at the event, and the drummer I have been in contact with is excited too.

And of course, no lederhosen this year. Time to break out the mechanic and pit crew shirts everybody!

Scott, You are a prince for listening. Would you believe that was subtle?

More former BMW's than it is possible to list.

Go for it Scott. Need me to email it to you?

Can you photoshop that fight club scene into one of my photos if I send to you? That's awsome.

Back on topic. I have a running 2002 now after 5 years, so of course I'm coming.

I am thinking: major engine work before Vintage. It will be GREAT to have greater smoothness, more power, no smoke, higher MPG, etc. I recently dreamed I was making a cross-country trip in the '02, but got busted for drug possession (not mine!) on a college campus somewhere in Colorado. What the hell?!

Jim - your car seemed to run pretty good in NC. What are you planning to have done? A top end rebuild?

Thanks, Jim. It has smoking upon deceleration, incr. oil consumption, and now it quickly fouls the #4 spark plug with thick black residue. The compression was checked this Spring and found to be "good" (didn't hear the #'s). It's got over 180K mi. now and no engine work done to my knowledge. The hillclimb portions of our drive together showed a definite lack of power.

Sound like the valve stem seals need to be replaced. If so, then maybe upgrade to the E30 type (as suggested here and other places). My car still has the stock type ones.

Cool Already made reservations for us and Jeffrey and Adeline (yep, they are coming again from the Netherlands)

Am gonna miss the Ompha band, thats for sure ;)

Scott told me that it would be okay for me to to a 2002 only drive the Friday before so I will be dreaming up something for that for those that get there by mid day. For sure we will end up in Mt Airy to join in all the fun that Scott has planned that evening

Golly, is it really 6 months away :) Will be here before we know it again

Best Vintage BMW event east of the Sierra Nevada's!!! (aint I mean )

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
