Easy fix for Interior Dome Light.

I've had my 1976 Chamonix for a little over 2 years now. I bought a new bulb for the dome light just after I got the car, but, it never would work.

Last week I took the light out and put a VOM on it to see if it was making contact. Nothing was getting through, so I soaked the whole thing overnight in VINEGAR. The next morning I rinsed it and dried it thouroughly, hooked it back up and viola! it worked on the "ON" setting. It still didn't come on when I opened the doors so I removed the door contacts and gave them the vinegar soak as well. When I put them back in --you guessed it -- when you open the door, the light comes on.

Several times I have been ready to buy a new set of OEM door contacts. Glad I didn't. After 34 years the contacts were so coroded that they couldn't make a circuit any more. Not a high tech solution, but the 2002 isn't a high tech kind of car.
