While looking through a cigar box last night that my wife had shelved at some point in the last several years, I rediscovered things I had lost and was annoyed at doing so. The Oktoberfest grill badge, dash plaque and a pin!

Did someone tell me that the grill badge was made on a very limited basis? I am afraid to mount it on my car...great memories of that week back in 2002...

cloissone event logo one that went to folks who brought 2002's to O'fest in '02, I believe your information is correct - my undstanding is/was that there were a very limited number made for O'fest participants, with little or no surplus. I tried to buy a 2nd one for a spare while we were there, and was told none were available.

Great find Neal. I'm sure the '02/'02 O-Fest badge IS rare. I know that Bo Black has/had his mounted and displayed with pride on his tii. I still kick myself for not making that trip. I attended virtually every other 2002 event I could that year. What a one to miss!

Similar to your story, last year while cleaning out the bottom drawer of an antique armoire I store clothing in I found my goody bag from 02-02-02. Unworn, mint condition t-shirt, dash plaque, decals, etc. It's like lost treasure.

Budweiser...It's not just for breakfast anymore.

I store my 02 Oktoberfest grill badge too. Too precious to ruin.

Was there a grill badge at 02-02-02 or just a dash plaque? The wife had the 02-02-02 dash plaque incorporated into the frame and mat of the panoramic shot taken there.

Yes it is the one given to the registrants of 2002's at Keystone. Thanks for the heads up on rarity. Will never forget the trek to and from and all the great folks I met and the bonds forged on that trip. Now I know it is going back into storage...I do regret not attending the 02-02-2002 event and remember it being cold and snowy here in Philly and saying to myself "there is now way I am driving there in that slop". My mistake...

Pretty cool stuff given out back then, from the '02 keychain to the reprint of the Wall Street Journal ad. Does not seem like there is that much interest in our cars these days and for true enthusiasts, that is a GOOD thing...

Wussies! I run my '02 O'Fest grille badge with pride and have the dash plaque mounted front-and-center. I also have the tech inspection sticker on my toolbox lid. For me, the memories make them too special not to display.

I lost my Pinewood Derby championship pin over the side of my canoe once. Even though it's now on the bottom of Slippery Rock Creek, it was still worth wearing it and still worth going out in the canoe.

By the way, that's all tongue-in-cheek ribbing. I'll be mighty sad if that grille badge ever falls off. And now that you mention it, I'll be out in the garage this evening checking my nuts...

...the ones holding the badge on, of course.

I, too, have had my ' 02 O'Fest badge on the front grille of my car (passenger side) for the past 7 yrs. with nary a problem. After all, I've got a "2002" emblem on the back, why not one on the front also? There were 110 ' 02s @ that O'Fest. Group photo made the cover of the ROUNDEL. The cars were parked so close together to make the group photo that some drivers had to climb out their windows to get out.

That truly was a great adventure. The day i sold my Sienabraun '75, two things came off it, the freshly remanufactured CR steering box and the cloisone Ofest grille badge. Part of me said i should have left it on because that's the car that made the trip, but i couldnt bare to part with it. After all, i made the trip too right? Now i just need to get it mounted on the Touring.
