I have a 2002 rust bucket that I'm gonna cut to pieces (now that I have stripped it), and need some advise. I will be using a sawsall with a metal blade to slice and dice...

what sections do I cut for:

quarter panels

nose

tail

trunk floor

is there anything else that I should/can cut ???

Thanx in advance

Wayne

one more question... How do you remove the trunk keyhole ?

Time is the ruler of all...

It really depends on what sheetmetal is good. The floor was gone from the one I cut up last year and the rear quarters and rear panel/trunk floor was pushing in/rusted out. Also, someone had cut through the seat mounts to remove the transmission rear mount tabs. I saved it in the biggest pieces that made sense. The front around the engine; and the back between the inner wheel wells; and the roof. I did remove the rockers for storage purposes, but to cut it up any further, I'll need to know where it's going to be used on another car.

If you cut the nose panel, you won't be able to save the fenders or inner fenders unless you drill out spot welds and grind out seems. Save all you can - someone will need it. The seat mounts occasionally get removed to install seats from another make, and the next owner want to put the mounts back in. I once removed a pedal box in a parts car in a salvage yard and used tin snips to cut around a good section of metal with the factory gas pedal mount corner!
