Sunroof Refurb

I think I need to start thinking about doing a sunroof referb on my '76 2002. I took it to a brushless car wash for the first time washing it since I've had it back on the road and a wall of water comes in through the roof every time the jets hit anywhere on the roof. Pretty funny situation, but I don't think that's too good for the car if that keeps happening. (1) What are the recommended parts I need to replace and are there any recommended procedures for doing this?

(2) On a side note, are the front windows adjustable inside the door? It would be nice to make this a little tighter against the seals (brand new). I had water shooting in mainly over the area between the vent window and A-pillar.

Easy fix: stay outta the car wash. These high pressure washes didn't exist in the '70s so you can't expect that the engineers in der Vaterland planned for this contingency.

I know I know, only by hand. I had just finished driving 3 hours for a breakfast meet, so I had to do it.

It's not just a brushless car wash though. I have to tape up the seem of the sunroof and barely hit the side windows because it hardly stops the water from coming in. I'm not talking about a leak. It's like an open faucet.

Steve, how expensive are those seals? I'm at a point in my rebuild that I should think about doing this as well.

I bought the seals from Steve. Now if someone could enlighten me whether or not the front vent and side windows can be adjusted inboard/outboard to create a better seal against my window seals. I don't want to break into the door again if I can find out first if it isn't adjustable.

Probably too late for you but maybe someone else can use this info..... those seals do not keep out water. The water can flow past them and into the drains inside. Your drains are most likely clogged and the water has nowhere to go.

The vent window assembly can be adjusted by removing the door panel and looking for a bolt (maybe more than one) that secures the long vertical channel in the front of the door to the door frame. Minor adjustments down low will make a big difference up top.

Adjusting the door glass channel in the back (slotted holes) at the same time will allow some movement of the glass inward and outward. I believe all these bolts use a 10 mm socket.
