solex 36/40 spring question

rude2002

Recommended Posts

I just finished rebuilding the solex 36/40 from my 72 2002. There is a spring (pictured here) that attaches to the carb body as part of the throttle assembly, but, I'm not sure what it does, or how it reconnects. Is it a tension spring, does it operate with the throttle stop screw assembly? What does it reattach to? Can anyone shed some light on this?

Without knowing bubkus about that particular carb, it looks a lot

like it's supposed to wrap around something (like the throttle shaft boss)

and rotate it... think how the throttle pedal spring around the shaft

where it exits the bucket works.

Maybe it closes the throttle? The choke?

Look for some circumferential grooves worn into the carb body somewhere-

that might help.

More that I can, anyway!
