it was from a company called "URO", not an OEM, and thus will not be used on my ride.

in disagreement with the purists...i have installed after market, 3rd party seals in 2 cars...the 1st was installed by a prof installer who deemed it a piece of cake....the 2nd was done by hubby and i and was easy enough...i believe any problems we encountered would have also occurred with any seal we used, including an official, german, bmw seal...

my 76 has spent a lot of days setting in a campus parking lot getting rain'd on and it's 'generic' seals have done well...not a drop of rain has entered

i also understand that wurth products are the only official, guaranteed and acceptable products to use on a BMW and that glasurit paint is the only paint which will guarantee against eminent & absolute failure of a paint job

i'm still waiting for all the paint to fall off of my car...as i did not use the "official" paint

There seems to be different extrusion profiles of these seals. Some stick out higher than others, interfering with the wiper arms. Some will "pucker" and not fit well in the corners.

How to tell if you have a front or rear seal? The front one has an extra lip (flap) that covers the space between the dash top and window opening. The rear one doesn't have this.

Oh-ho. I should've started with questions of OE vs. aftermarket.

I'm not a purist yet. I'm wet. It rains on the inside of my windshield & I fear having work done that doesn't fix it properly. But, you've turned me around here. I'll try my URO on the front & Blunt's OE seal on the rear.

OK. here's to believing y'all.
