So I found this piece laying on the ground or in the engine compartment a while back, and I saved it because it looked important and I didn't know what it was.

the outside of it:

The inside of it:

Well, I had my air filter off today, and I finally figured out where it goes.

Can anyone tell me what this piece I've got is? Or what it's purpose is? Or if it's missing anything? Thanks!

more familiar with the manual choke versions....but I'll bet your choke isn't working properly without it! Put it back on.

Also, you are missing some more parts. There is a piece that fits in the cavity/hole where the missing parts attaches to.

Just fill it with Mystery Oil and reinstall.

I thought I remembered a little spring attached to the inside of it or something when I first found it.

I did find a large spring resting on my engine that fits into the carb perfectly. Incredible considering this happened at least 6 months ago, and this is my daily driver.

And now that I think about it, my choke stopped working properly aroudn the time this happened i think...

I am pretty sure the Pierce Manifolds web site has a exploded diagram of the 32/36 that will show the bits you are missing.
