Glas For Sale for $3950 in SF BAy area

yes, living in the SF Bay Area and having Craigslist available has cluttered my driveway immeasurably with rusty, semi-rusty, cheap (and free in some instances) 02's.

i'm currently undergoing a 12 step program. i know better than to install a tow-hook on my pickup truck.

it's a hard burden to bear. i bear it for all of you folks who don't live in the area....

if only i could fit just one more car...... (i'd be a Glas owner, too)

Former owner of 2570440 & 2760440
Current owner of 6 non-op 02's

DAMN IT!

I have gone back to this ad three times now!

Must look away...

I already have an E30M3 in the garage on stands...but THIS car would be eligible for all the vintage events.

My wife would go buy a gun and shoot me.

OK...just one more look.

Hey Steve, I thought I would bump it one more time so you can look for the forth time; I'm at five. Thank god I have to leave the country next week for work and have no time for this....It'd look good also in the very pale yellow that I remember from my old Road & Track, if memory serves... Such a happy little car...My wife even thinks its "cute"...Dave V. in NC

Hey, Dave, if the wife says it's "cute" that's an automatic authorization to buy. You still have a week to go before you leave, so you still have time.

Plus Pugh's Glas needs company in NC.

You have to buy it.

Harry, you couldn't just sit back and sip a little 151 on ice, and watch Survivor, or Masterpiece Theatre, you had to be messing around on Craigslist SF....Kinda like a BMW table dance (back when I knew about such things..), to tease and incite. How's the Touring coming along..? Misery loves company, maybe? Just kidding...If timing was better, and I could have an educated compadre check out the structure, and I could fly back into SF and drive it home.....Oh yeah, and money. At $3950 (probably a great price), that's 10% of actual done price..maybe. Kinda like e9 coupes and icebergs....ask me how I know (no I dont have an iceberg, but yes on the former, twice..) But, God yes, I'd give it a loving home...hate to say that I even prefer the double-dot tail lights of the Glas over the BMW version....And there's no room at the inn, unless you or Andy would buy my 76 Taiga project....I'll throw in a Carr alum radiator..Someone please buy that Glas puppy and set me free...Dave V. in NC

Hey, it's just that misery loves company, and I sure do! There was talk on another post about the "slippery slope" once you start restoring an '02. Mine is no longer a slope, it's a precipice.

Witness this:

And to think that, back in '92 when I restored the Schwarz car, I proclaimed and sworn that it would be the last one, since I was getting too old for this.

A precipice with friends like all the FAQers chipping away at the the base with hammers and chisels.

I think I'll start wearing a safety harness and rope before I go out into my garage.

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
