Just a word to say thanks to Bill and the 02 group for making it happen. Bill you are like Uncle Roundel to everyone making us all feel like family. You charge our BMW souls. Just ask Graham and his alternator. Starting with German dinner in Hagerstown- Caravan hook up on i81. Cruising down and running with the tii twins Matt and Jim. Matt has a lead foot and Jim needs a new Palm Pre phone(coming out June 6-i PHONE KILLA). 2002 turbo Tim and Terry (thanks Terry for telling me I had NO brake fluid). Larry for the Dot 4 fluid- I owe you big time. Frank and Fritz for the New York hospitality. And of course- Shelton Vineyards for the great Stage..

Hey Doug,

Nice meeting you and the other NY contigent at Vintage this year. Thanks for your multi-meter and yours & Lawrence's advice on solving my electrical gremlins. Bill really went out of his way to ensure that my car was operational.

and Jim needs a new Palm Pre phone(coming out June 6-i PHONE KILLA).

Mmmm, I think not my friend. Its got some slick features for those who are facebook and twitter types, but all in all its still gonna be iPhone.

My neighbor writes for phonedifferent.com and he is a converted Palm power user. He has A/B'd the two (on paper granted) and in his professional opinion, the iPhone still takes it. And the v3 iPhone that releases later in the year is gonna be huge.

There's rumor, based on the FACT that apple ordered both 3 and 5 MP cameras, its rumored that there will be a forward and rear facing camera. The 3MP camera forward facing for video calls... KAPOW! That, and they are enabling the apps to use the plug for external devices, such as a blood pressure monitor, etc. Its sky's the limit, it really is. And the app store already kills the competition with over 35,000 apps and counting.

Pretty amazing. This is the first phone I paid more than 30 bucks for, and it has been nothing but stellar. --and it looks great with my 2002FAQ icon in the top left corner!

When will Apple break that dreadful exclusive contract with AT&T?

That is what is holding me back.

At&t about to double their bandwidth.. no word on if they will drop the exclusivity. apple probably has big bucks invested to make sure "it just works".

I called sprint and fab'd a lease on a farm in Adam's county Ohio that was outside their service area and told them I was moving there. They let me out of all three lines for no charge. suckers.

Here is another reason why I love my iPhone.. Geotags. While the images them selves aren't of anything amazing per say, I mounted my phone in the car and left the camera running and popped randoms during the trip to V@V and then pulgged them into Picasa. check this out, zoom in real close and look at the elevations.

I'd expect about 1 more year with AT&T, but after that it will just be other GSM providers until everybody (including Verizon) moves to LTE. No way (IMHO) will Apple produce a CDMA version of the phone just for Verizon.

Hi Doug -

Great to meet you (and Lawrence). I enjoyed the trip and long weekend and only wish it wasn't over.

(Resuming the phone thread now)

My work AT&T i-phone is almost ready for me to "switch" from the Sprint Palm. I have no say since our IT-manager provides them to us.

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
