my 45 min ride became a 3 hour ordeal

At around 10:30PM last night, I decided on late night spirited drive on a 10-15 mile stretch of fun and twisty Lucas Valley road in San Rafael. I stop at the local Bar and restaurant in Nicasio for a cold one and the plan was to head back soon right after. Well, it didnt turn out so. My Tii fuel pump finaly gave and the damn thing didnt want to start. My magic rubber mallet did not work this time around. Bartender was nice enough to wait for the tow truck to arrive and off it went to JP at A1 for a new 5 series pump. I miss the hum of my old pump.

P.S..Tow truck driver was hungry and asked if we can go to Marin Joes in Corte Madera for a quick bite. He offered me a deal if I bought him dinner..and I did since it was late sunday night.

An experience not to be repeated. A story to tell your grandchildren.

The weather started getting rough, the tiny ship was tossed. . . . Three hours! What an Ordeal. Who needs to watch 24? Lord of the Rings XVII, the sequel?

How does an old pump hum?

You obviously do not own a Tii

I have 2 and an P1800 that use the same pumps. My old pumps sound the same as new pumps. Click Bzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. I have also been stranded and usually carry an extra pump and miscellaneous relays and wires - just in case. Are you sure that it was your pump that gave out and not an intervening relay or a poor ground? I once thought I had a dead pump and used two lengths of wire and wired the pump directly from the battery and found the pump was not the problem. Got me home, to explore the electrical glitch in my driveway. I am unfamiliar with using a mallet to get the pump working, but I do not think that is going to cure an electrical problem, if that is what is ailing the pump.

no unfortunately, it's not a electrical problem. The 30 year old pump was just tired and the mallet was used to wake it up. I treat my Tii like any other cars and do not carry spare parts around. Unless I'm going cross country I suppose. fortunately the car has not given me problems and it's actually my fault for ignoring the symptoms of the pump and prolonging the inevitable.

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
