adjusting gas / accelerator pedal

another one for u guys. my car (standard 2002) did not come w/ a gas / accelerator pedal so i bought one for a non-tii 02 (and confirmed via FAQ that it is not a tii one) but the problem i'm having is that if i put the pedal into the knubs, the rod sits below where it should on the pedal. rod looks like it needs to be adjusted so it sits farther forward so it can fit on the rail portion. any idea how to accomplish this (without heating and bending rod)? i'll try to take pictures tonight so u can see what i'm talking about. tia

Well, you can always loosen the 6mm pinch bolt on the lever that

attaches to the accelerator rod and move it that way...

crawl underneath and take a look- it's not too hard.

Toby meant "crawl underneath" the car, not the carpet

You may need to adjust the relationship between the pedal rod #1 and lever #7 to alter the pedal position. Lever #7 is where the end of the pedal rod extends out of the pedal box. They are held together with the pinch bolt #11 and nut #5
