Carb bowl, fuel lines draining empty

I have a rebuilt single barrel carb, new hoses from firewall to carb. After sitting for one week, I have to fill the float bowl three times to get the car to run. The fuel is not staying in the lines (I have a clear filter to check). Can't find any leaks. Once running, everything is fine, fuel pump works great. I assume I have an air leak and the pump takes too long to draw fuel from the tank. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

How old is your pump. Mine would do the same with a hot motor. A tiny pin prick hole in the pump diaphram would allow fuel to drain to the tank. But it would be ok cold.

Also check for an air leak between the tank and pump.

Did you check the gas tank vent tube?
