Really basic Timing/Timing Light question, Mind's toast

Must be one too many Sunday afternoon brews. I want to time the 02', got out me digital timing light. Haven't used it in quite some time, and I normally set the time at about 32-34 degrees full advance around 3K. Works great. My problem is, what do I set the light to? I think I recall the dist. having something like 25 degrees of advance built in, so do I set the light at 7-9 degrees advance, or the full 32-34? Sounds like a dumb question, but I figured ya'll would be gentle with me. Thanks

Larry

if you are timing by the "ball", set light to the difference between what you want and 24deg (the ball setting).

Ah yes, the advance is at the ball. For some reason(dumb reason), I thought it was at the dist. So I was correct by setting the light at 8 degrees to achieve 32 degrees full advance. Ok, Thanks!

you were thinking correctly...the advance is built into the dizzy....the ball on the flywheel is just set to be able to measure 24deg advance as a reference.

Whatever you set your timing to, I hope the mark is steadier than your Avatar!
