I got my 02 out of the storage this morning and went for a few acceleration test to fulfill my adiction...

the rear ends wanders like if nothing were at its place.

So i decided to instal theses akg bushings that i bought like 3 years ago (!)

the old ones were not that bad. ive seen much bad ones.

burn mother fucker burn...

this is the only fast way to remove thoses. heat the metal around until it burn, and let it smoke for 1 minute. then push the rubber out. nothing will stay.

how are the poly bushings compared to stock plus the stiffeners? too stiff for street use? certainly easier to install i would think...

i am about to replace my stock ones.....

well, its hard to say, all the rest of the car has urethane already+ bilsteins HD so the ride is already stiff, but not that much.

Thoses are the "70A" less stiff bushings so they give a decent ride. I would say my 2002 still ride nicer than a brand new cavalier ...

:-)

thanks. all the rest of the bushings in the car will be urethane too. just noticed from bill williams nice faq on suspension redo that the new carrier bushins come with the carriers, so they appear to be just bolt on. i already have the stiffeners so may go with stock.

Oh Toby...

If you only knew how close you really were to this today.

Yes a friend and I replaced all my rear bushings at around the same time on this sunny Saturday. We only had to burn out the subframe bushings. I got the carriers complete with housing and added the ireland inserts.

It was in my gravel driveway and

we said we should post up pics on how much they really burn.

Looks like Pat beat us to it.

I guess it truly is a small 02 world after all!

(I did feel bad about the smoke to the environment)
