Let me know what you find out. I'm interested in whether the reverse would work--BMW front hubs on a VW Beetle spindle.
A standard 2002 has front wheel bearing sets #15 (inner) & #1 (outer).
A vw beetle 69-79 does use the same two front wheel bearing sets.
Lotsa water-cooled vw 74-91 use the same two sets on the rear.
Does this mean you can swap hubs? Probably not!
You'd have to look at the lateral spacing (hub widths) + the location & size of the grease seal. The rear grease seals on my 2.0 16v gti are the same part as fits the front of my 2002, but it still ain't going on.
If you got a beetle, check it out & report on it!
