Anybody have a turbo housing hot-jet coated??

What did you do with the internal waste gate? I'm concerned that if I leave it in, it will become permanently fused and if I remove it, I'll never get a proper replacement.

i dont see why it would become fused though, isnt that stuff basically high tech powdercoat? you could just remove the actuator arm and flapper, then weld it on later. The fit on those things is pretty sloppy anyways. I'd say try it. You can always weld up the hole and go to an external wastegate. -Reid

it wouldn't be that hard to get the alignment right again, especially since I could change the arm length of the actuator.

Does yours leak much around the shaft that works the waste-gate? A T3 Garrett (at least with the exhaust adapter I have, doesn't lend itself easily to an external waste-gate. I'm keeping my 9.5:1 pistons, so I don't need all that much boost to make a monster.

but what doesn't. Hardly,just a bit black around the whole. What exhaust adaptor are you using? A volvo 740 turbo unit or a saab 900 turbo both seem to be pretty good. I see them welded up a lot, the flapper is just kind of welded there. I used to have one, no idea where it is now. How much boost do you plan on running? I run 10-12 pounds with flat tops. -Reid

unit. I'm going to first go to EFI / NA and sort everything out. I got a good deal on a dodge Shelby intercooler.

The output flange is a 45o elbow with a two bolt flange. It's the type that takes a metal "O" like an 02 exhaust system.

Anyway, I'm planning only on 5-6 lbs until the the ion sensing ignition that's in the works becomes available. With a stock disti and complete programmability over the squirt (and a WB-O2 sensor), I should be able to keep myself nice, rich and cool.

Once I get an ignition control that will give me maximum advance all the time, I'm going to go to 10 and see how many differentials I can break.
