Last time (ha! last time....) The ONLY time I've had to do one, I ended up on the phone with the person who bought something from me and the manager at her bank where I read the manager stuff off my checks and the manager transferred money into my account. Seems risky when I look back on it but everything worked out fine!

I've tried that bank to bank transfer a number of times but my bank has never been able to figure it out. Each time I ended up sending a money order / bank check drawn in euros. Some people said that sending cash was fine as the check is an added expense. All of my transactions went very well and the sellers were all very accommodating.

Euro denominated travelers checks. Put 'em in the mail. If they get lost, you'll get a refund from the travelers check issuer.

I bought parts from England that way and it worked just fine. I even used dollar denominated travelers checks too.

Aren't you gonna tell us what you got?!

oh ok what the heck. I got a pair of complete euro headlight buckets. 4 early kidney grills, a pair of door handles, a hub cap, 2 pairs of plastic headlight covers that looks like a dish bowl and some other stuff I couldnt identify. How am I going to hide this from the wife is the bigger issue. :)

Mike;

did you bother to have it sent certified mail with returned receipt? Will the local banks here have travelers checks?

HA, i was considering bidding on this as well (I'm in Germany) but decided it would be a WANT buy, not a NEED buy.

Germany seems pretty anti Paypal which i like (have now bought a few things and not once have they offered it), i think because their bank transfer is so good, its easier than paypal and doesn't cost anything.

Ze Germans are very reliable on ebay in my experiances, as per most things.

I purchase an item this summer from Germany. The cost for a wire tranfer was $35.00. Half the cost of the item. I ended up senting a bank check (in dollars taking into account the euro rate) by standard mail. Risky but everything worked out OK. Good luck.

If you send it priority mail international, you can ask it be returned if it's not deliverable.

You can also use international money orders from the PO, or as Mike says get travelers checks. Either should work.

A wire from bank to bank is normally about $40, so if you can do this all for less, you'll save $. I send money overseas about once every 2 months and have never had issues with bank wires not getting there. And I've found most on German ebay are honest and reliable to do as they promised.

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
