The elusive oil pump braket that holds the end of the oil pick up tube,

note how sturdy it is: there is a reason, to minimise stress on the pump and tame all vibrations.

It is totaly transportable from a 2002 engine to a e21 engine.

At last, some of my trash cylinder head pictures

CC's figure :

121/121ti head: 58cc, 1972 and earlier

e12 head: 61cc, 1973 to 1975

e21 2.0 head: 60cc, 2002 and 320i, 1976 to 1979

1.8i head: 63cc, 320i and 318i 1980 to 1984

I have many 121 and 121ti heads, they are all the same, unless they have the tulip valves then they have the smaller intake valve. Its the only difference, no consistency at all.

maybe it depends on what you want to hear? my first educated guess is that you loose some low end torque with this set-up.

what CR are you running ?

too much valve overlap is not very turbo friendly. you loose some efficiency. This kind of set-up is probalby very good for high hp numbers and a lot of boost (20+psi). This is just my opinion, based on previous experience with various turbo set-up i made over the last 20 years.

Thats exactly what I intended mine for.

15-25 lbs of boost :D

aiming for around 300 reliable ponies. without stretching the engine past 6700.

I was about to go turbo shopping too. wondering what would be good for this engine as well

I have a garrett .42 AR 40 trim that a blew an oil seal off of. but im thinking it's ancient and should probably upgrade.

I bought an ebay turbo just to get the car runnin for now (off a friend for 75 bucks). I was lookin at the holset hx30 or something along those lines.

what do you think?

Hi Folks –

I need to calculate the compression on a 2L tii engine with E12 head and EU grand piano (6,6mm) pistons.

Does anyone know how many cubic the EU grand piano on the pistons fills?

Does anyone know the answer?

Sorry, can not post pictures neither with Firefox or Explorer?

Here is some pictures of some of my block into my collection.

Pictured:

1-e21 2.0 block

2-e21 1.8 block

3-74-76 block with screwed on plug behind the timing cover

4-Tii block, notice the oil return plug next to the oil filter boss

5-70-73 block, with aluminium plug behind the front cover

6-early block with screwed on oil pick-up tube, i believe pre 70

(sequence number not real)

The major difference in the webing is only external and apply only to the later 1.8 block. All others seems to have the exact same webbing/reinforcements, outside and inside.

Once flipped, they are all the same at first sight.

Edited: late 1.8 block has less webbing internaly over the main caps, thus might be considered as less "strong" than early block. That is certainly arguable as some will say late castings are better made.

The boss for the oil filter seems to change without any consistency, some has depp passages while some others seems to be "flush".

NOTE, all years are from the VIN that is onto the block, averaged within 10 different block, so it is real.

If you are still reading this thread.

Can you tell which bock these pictures show, I'm not even aware of what it is other than it must be a 2,0?

looks to me like its a very fresh E21 block at is has all the bolts and threads for the other type of engine mount.

fwiw 1.8 or 2.0 block are basicaly the same.

if you plan to use it dont forget to put back the plugs in the back of it right next to the starter...all oil presure will get out from there.

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,
