will i find that %?@#$%?@!#$%!#%# vibration at 60mph or not...

my IRD 350 Mechanalysis vibration analyser is ready...

motor spec is 1hp 1/2 20amp.

pulley are calculated so the driveline will rotate at 60mph dead on.

I will crawl under the car and will probe all mounting points.

wish me luck.

about 53 and 62 mph...manifested as a low roaring sound between these speeds. The culprit turned out to be a totally disintegrated (more like melted) rear tranny mount. Installed a new one and the vibration vanished forever!

cheers

Hi Mike...well, my problem is that i put a new driveshaft, and everything else seems top notch.

I need to find the source of the vibe. I am pointing to the guibo/missalignment of the driveshaft or a very slight imbalance at the center support.

Still not finished the set-up...

thanks.

i have my set-up working...

i had to move from 110v on a 14/2 to 220v on 10/2...this motor sucks a lot of juice !!

The good news is that i hear the vibration very well, so i will be able to fix it for sure !!

yeah, like someone else said, dont send a kid to do an adult job...that motor was the only solution !!

So, i f*kced the whole day on that, trial and error is the only solution with such set-up because it is a 3 plane balancing issus, quite complicated with only one vibration transducer...

but anyway, this magnificent expensive new rebuilded and waranted driveshaft is totaly out of balance.

I successfuly reduced the overall vibration by 75% i think.

Would you belive me that i can measure the head of a tie wrap ??

I think it gona be perfect once i will spend few hours again or so.

Thanks driveline specialist of portland, oregon. You give excellent service but your third party balancing company worth a sh*t.

My friends told me that only god is more patient than me. I think its a compliment, otherwise they think i am nuts...

lol...

I'm impressed with your testing.

Driveline of Portland should have given you a warranty for their work. Have you contacted them?

A driveshaft they did for my 86 635 failed after more than a year and I was able to get a replacement through the shop that did the work.

yes, they offered to send me another one. No problem with their service at all.

Ive been sodomo at the duty and postag fees once it crossed the border ya know...it costed me 550$.

I prefered to balance that one on the car ;)

I did drive the car today on the highway...i NEVER did drive such a smooth car...and i test a lot of cars days after days, brand new from dealers.

I love this E36.

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
