I've posted a few shots of my car before, but I've finally got it up and running now. Found myself in an empty parking garage the other day and couldn't resist taking a picture...22316135178_892982cf22_b.jpg

Looks great! Are those the BMP design side skirts? They work well with the turbo flares and air dam.

I'm a little disappointed to see that your roof isn't actually chopped. :)

Haha, yeah not chopped. Maybe next one. :)

Yes, they are BMP side skirts. They aren't perfect, but they are pretty close. Ideally I would have cut and shortened them slightly. I may still do it, but it's really far down on my list of things to do.

HI oz_tom,

Your "Blacky" 2002 is an absolute inspiration. I've stared at pictures of your car for many months before recently purchasing 15" BBS RS's (6.5", 32 offset) for my 1975 Black 2002tii.

Any thoughts on harshness of ride on your 195/45? I'd go the next profile up (195/50) but the wall-size seems to look just a bit too big for my taste especially on my narrower rims which I presume will make them sit a little taller?

Do you happen to have any more shots of your mate's green 1602? I've searched but can't find a better angle to see what his 185/45's look like on the front given his wheels are the same 6.5" width as mine.

Thanks for all your valuable input on this thread!

A few months ago I got a wild hair and decided to cut my H&Rs. A lot. The result has been polarizing.

Hey guys, anyone running Gruppe 2 Flares? From what I read, 275's can fit all around with this kit. I plan on buying a set of Street wheels from Diamond Racing, I plan on running 225/45R15 all around unless I can get the Avon Motorsport tires from Europe (245/40R15) then I'd run those in back. So I would like to do 15x8 front /10" rear.  Anyone been through this road? I've yet to mount the flares on the car and want to get as close of offset as possible for 245s in the back and 225s up front.  It seems from all these pics 15x8 et0 is fine for turbo flares..but my gruppe 2 are like atleast 1" wider than turbo flares.  Whats the minimum positive offset that a 15x8 with a 225/45R15 tire will clear the strut/perch. Also saw some people running 10" wheels, whats the minimum offset for a 10" wheel in back to clear Trailing arm? I guess we can talk Backspacing. 4.5" is max backspacing for front strut? How about backspacing for rear? Most I've seen run is 8.5" with 225/45 et12 which is 5.2" backspacing

Any input would be nice :) I've skimmed through all 48 pages.

to help clarify what im asking; is for example. On an e30. a 9" wide wheel needs atleast et12 (~5.5" backspacing) to clear the strut.   Looking for same "rule" for 2002.

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
