I know it's not 02 related, but i'd like to get some opinions so i can get this fixed quick.

Went boating(sunray 13 ft) and towed it home at end of day, and when i got back i noticed the idle was lower than usual and the motor was sputtering and misfiring/stumbling. Now What?

The car does not seem to do it when it's cold or warming up, only when it reaches normal temperature after little drive does it act up.

Some quick research led to the Coil packs or the Cam position sensor.

I pulled my coil packs and they don't look right, they look like there's some burning going on. Burning on both sides of coil pack, on others its only on one side. It's like this on all 6 coil packs

Is this normal?

Could towing a little boat cause my Coil packs to burn up for some silly reason?

Thanks for looking

...."Some quick research led to the Coil packs or the Cam position sensor"?

year of car

model

have you missed your coil RECALL at BMW dealer ?

if they look burned - there you go - replace all 6 with

new spark plugs at the same time

you getting "CHECK ENGINE" warning lights

you 'code' scanning with a backyard scanner ?

Early M50s had a recall for bad coil packs.

They should not look like that at all. They should be nice and clean.

Thanks for showing up c.d.iesel

My mistake, i'm not thinking,

The model is a 2000 528 wagon.

I did not know there was a RECALL. I'll call BMW for fun.

The check engine light is on.

I don't have an error code scanner at the moment, i should have one though.

You wouldn't know of or have one for sale, would you?

Thanks

FORGET WHAT I SUGGESTED

"coils" only applies to 2002 - 2004 cars

BREMI coils faulty = replace with BOSCH

your car is earlier - not included

so if the coils are BURNT ? - JUST REPLACE THEM

and your spark pluga should be

NGK BKR6EQUP gap non-adjustible

check BAVAUTO - that has 'performance' replacement coils on sale a while back

how's your crankcase vent system hoses - if plugged up with sludge and

carbon - you'll crack a cam cover in the winter time - during cold temps.

Also cause serious oil leakage .
