Here are some details on fuel tanks as fitted to 2 liter cars from 1969-1976. Taken from BMW parts books...not the internet. Probably reasonably accurate, though the factory DOES make plenty of documenting mistakes. All VINS are US specific, I have interpreted them as best I can as to US model year application. REMEMBER - in Europe a "73 model year" was a square light car! I use US model years for simplicity/common application. (ie: only 74-on all had square taillights) USA Market NON-tii: BMW Part number 16 11 1 107 663 46 liter tank used to VIN 2572069 short filler neck, these cars can use later "long neck" tanks, but must be modified/shortened. (Used til mid/late 71?) BMW Part number 16 11 1 110 613 46 liter tank from VIN 2572070 to 2583404. Longer neck, no 8mm vapor/vent nipple. (Used until mid 72?) BMW Part number 16 11 1 110 642 46 liter tank from 2583405 to VIN 2593039. Longer neck w. vapor/vent nipple (used until early-mid 1973) for reference my April 73 car used this smaller tank. VIN 2590XXX BMW part number 16 11 1 111 602 51 liter tank from VIN 2593039 to end of US production. USA Market tii: BMW part number 16 11 1 107 596 46 liter tank from 2760001 to 2761963 uses "twist to lock" pickup unit (to mid 72) BMW part number 16 11 1 110 614 46 liter tank from 2761964 to 2764369 uses bolt in pickup unit (until mid 73) BMW part number 16 11 1 111 604 51 liter tank from VIN 2764370 to end of US tii production (until late 74)
