Fuel Pump Rod Length & Flange Width

In my BMW workshop manual it says that you can change the fuel pump's pressure by changing the rod length and flange width.

I am having a little bit of a clash with the fuel pump and throttle linkage. If i took 5mm off the flange (at the moment it is 20mm) and rod what difference would this make?

Do i need to increase pressure now i have fitted 40 Dellortos anyway?

No extra pressure needed. The stock pump can take it.

There are two rod lengths 107mm & 88mm, long is early pumps, short is later pumps. I would get a rod and flange from a pick'n'pull if you want to experiment.
