GB: 5 speed bracket and VW rear disc - closing 5/28/08

I have one of each cut and everything looks good. The 5 speed bracket matches up really nice with the one I made by hand

a while back and will be sending the new cut one to a FAQ memeber today to check it out on his 02 (mine has a m42 now....)

The 5 speed mount will bolt to the stock 02 mounting points and then swing around the trans. As you can see in the picture the holes are slotted a little bit to allow for some adjustment. The mount is made from 1/4" mild steel.

The price for one mount is $40

shipping:

$5 in the US, as many as you want

$9 to Canada, under 4lbs

$11 international, under 4lbs

VW brake brackets. You will get two of these, there will be a counter sunk hole to allow clearence for the caliper.

You use jetta rear calipers with the parking brake attachment and solid rabbit front rotors.

You need to have your rear hubs turned down to work with these.

You also need to grind a little bit off the trailing arm to allow one of the bolts to thread into the caliper. This allows for a tighter clearance for 13" wheels as well as full pad contact on the rotor.

Once I get my rear hubs back I will snap some pictures of the VW bracket on a trailing arm with everything bolted on.

$65 for one pair of brackets

shipping:

$5 in the US, as many as you want

$11 international, under 4lbs

If you want multiple of one or the other, email me and I will give you a price break. If you want either one you can paypal to jake AT the guestroom dot NET.

I will let this buy go for 2 weeks and then start cutting. Some may get cut before that. I plan to get some additonal ones made so I will have them on hand.

If you have any questions feel free to email.

Many years work...but here are two

83 rabbit front rotors

89 jetta rear calipers with the mounting bracket used on the VW as well

I am sure there are more that work as there is cross over in the calipers. Once I get my rear hubs back I will put them all together and take some pictures of everything

The machining has to be done so the rotors fit over the hubs. They need to be turned down a little bit. I should have some pictures of it bolted together later this week.

just a bump....

Been busy at work...and now have another after work/summer job so I will get some pictures of the brakes this weekend on a trailing arm.

I am going to put the order in to cut at the end/middle of next week so if you still want in please email or pay. I plan to get some more of each made but the price will be a little more. Planning on adding them to the FAQ store.

I will also give 10% of this sale back to the faq.

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
